BAND MEMBERS

Mandolinist MASSIMO GATTI (Udine)

has founded Bluegrass Stuff in 1977. He has played for many years with the international band Euro Grass, touring both sides of the Atlantic and he has appeared on numerous music production across Europe. His mandolin style has a strong Monroe influence mixed with an original contemporary approach.

He is in demand as a session musician and as a mandolin tutor. Along the way he has written and recorded his own brand of New Acoustic Music. His composition Frangenti was recorded by the Grammy-nominated new-age pianist George Winston on his album "Plains" and by the Nashville Mandolin Ensemble on their debut cd.  He is also one of the few European endorsers of D’Addario strings.

A true Bluegrass music lover,

MICHELE DAL LAGO (Bergamo)

is the band’s guitarist and lead singer.

Having performed in many rock bands from the age of 15, Michele has always been interested in American acoustic music and its social history.

He sometimes also sings and performs as a duo with Massimo Gatti and in several other musical acoustic projects.

He thinks that bluegrass music isn’t a passion but an obsession!

ICARO GATTI (Milano)

is the youngest member in the band and he's the son of Massimo.

By traveling so much in the United States in those years he learned a lot about banjo and Bluegrass music.

When he was only 13 years old he started touring regularly with Bluegrass Stuff playing bass, but when he was 20 he switched to the banjo his first love.

You can see him playing banjo all over Europe and teaching this wonderful instrument in Milan .

Supporting the band's rhythm with his hard-driving bass is RINO GARZIA (Napoli).

He had his first musical experience at the age of 16 with some pop rock bands from his town. Years after he dedicated himself to playing the bass and subsequently the double bass.

Self-taught, he refines his technique and jazz language by attending the Civica Scuola di Jazz in Milano, under the guidance of Marco Vaggi and Lucio Terzano.

He is an eclectic and versatile musician having enbraced Pop, Funk, Jazz and Folk musical genres. Rino has also collaborated with several musicians from the italian and international scene.

FRANCESCO MOSNA (Trento) is the newest member of the band. Starting the Dobro only 5 years ago he is already one of the best player in Italy.

Francesco is also an accomplished singer and guitarist and share the Lead Vocals with Michele in the band.

He loves traditional bluegrass music and is a big fan of Jerry Douglas and Clarence White.
