BAND BIO

BLUEGRASS STUFF has been performing and recording in Italy and Europe since 1977, led by mandolinist Massimo Gatti that whole time, placing them among the longest running active bluegrass outfits in Europe.

During the last 41 years they explored every style of bluegrass, from traditional to progressive, and they had played a fundamental role in spreading bluegrass music in Europe and creating an Italian bluegrass scene and an Italian bluegrass audience. They have fans who have been following the band for more than three decades. Probably there'll be a lot less bluegrass (and country) in Italy and Europe if it had not been for the Bluegrass Stuff.

After releasing "The Old Bridge" in 2013, a traditional bluegrass album with some old tunes and some originals, they had recorded  “Bluegrass Vision” a new album with completely different sound and repertoire. It's a contemporary bluegrass album and a bluegrass homage to the best U.S songwriters (John Hartford, Guy Clark, Gordon Lighfoot, John Prine, Richard Thompson).

But the best way to appreciate the Bluegrass Stuff is to see them live, 'cause they're not just talented musicians, but also great entertainers. Nobody gets bored at a Bluegrass Stuff show!

They use to make jokes on stage, interact with the audience and, between songs, play some Italian traditional music in a bluegrass style. Even if you're not too much into bluegrass music, you're gonna be amused!

BLUEGRASS STUFF has performed all over Italy and Europe, gaining a strong following everywhere. The band has appeared at some of the major international festivals in Italy (Torino, Milano, Tradate, Brescia, Pescara), France (Toulouse, Craponne sur Arzon, La Roche sur Foron), Germany (Güglingen, Neusudende, Bühl), Switzerland (Basel, Münchwilen, Melide, Stetten, Deredinger, Olten, Schaffausen, Willisau, Thün, Albisgütli), Nederland (EWOB) sharing the stage with such major acts as Bluegrass Cardinals, The Nashville Bluegrass Band, Country Gazette, Tim O' Brien, etc.

BLUEGRASS STUFF has also played with bluegrass greats Peter Rowan, Kenny Baker, Josh Graves, Jim Eanes, Bill Keith, Jim Rooney, Randy Howard, Tim O’ Brien and has appeared many times on both local and national radio and TV programs.

BLUEGRASS STUFF released several recordings on LP. In 1995 produced "Golden Horn" the first italian bluegrass CD followed by  The Live Album, Volare, the The Old Bridge, Bluegrass Vision.

BLUEGRASS STUFF are the most awarded bluegrass band in Europe winning several times in different European Countries as the best band in the genre.
